BIRDS EYE VIEW ACROSS LUCCA FROM TORRE GUINIGI

Situated on the plains of the Serchio River in the heart of Italy’s stunning Tuscany region, Lucca is a unique historic walled city filled with winding cobblestone streets, terracotta roofs, well-preserved towers and an abundance of restaurants serving up delicious Tuscan dishes. No trip to Tuscany would be complete without exploring this fascinating city, an easy day-trip by train from Florence.

Wander the narrow winding streets to soak up the atmosphere, head up to the top of the towers for breathtaking views across the city skyline and to the surrounding mountains, and walk along the broad, picturesque tree-lined pathways on top of the famed Renaissance city walls to see all Lucca has to offer. Any of the towers are worth the climb, however be sure not to miss out the 14th Century Torre Guinigi with its hanging garden and ancient Oak trees that can be seen from all over the city, which offers the most unique perspective. It is also worth the short walk across from the train station to view the Aqueduct of Nottolini, a prominent Neoclassical architectural stone structure supported by more than 400 arches, and stretching for over 3 kilometres.
